Clamp the return line to prevent backflow. Decrease the gas to 0 or disconnect the gas line.

Remove the pumphead from the motor.

If there is a magnetically levitated pump, insert the pumphead in the backup pump.

If there is a partially magnetically levitated pump, insert the pumphead in the hand-crank.

Start running the pump.

At the same time with different operators, remove the clamp on the return line and restart the gas flow, and reconnect the gas line.

Support the patient as needed.

Assess if the power failure scenario is ongoing:

• Are the batteries exhausted?
• Is there no power connection?
