Criteria for severe cardiorespiratory failure includes:
One or more of the following for 3 - 6 hours:
- Preductal SpO2 < 80%
- High PaCO2 (>70 mmHg)
- Persistent respiratory acidosis (pH < 7.2)
- Persistent lactic acidosis ( > 3 mmol/L)
- Refractory hypotension
- Severe RV / LV dysfunction
High ventilator pressures (HFOV: MAP ≥ 15 cm H2O or CMV: PIP ≥ 26 cm H2O) for 3-6 hours
OI > 40 > 4 hours or OI > 25 > 48 hours with iNO
Ventilator associated lung injury
